Each year, La Diada de Sant Jordi (St. George’s Day) is celebrated on the 23rd of April. Being Catalunya’s patron saint, Sant Jordi and his tale is well-known throughout the region. From his legend, the tradition of men giving roses to women was born.
Book-giving during Sant Jordi became customary as well because World Book Day is celebrated in parallel. While men give women roses, women give men books. Thus, the celebration is also known as “Roses and Books Festival”.

With the entire city of Barcelona filled with stalls selling books and roses, SOM Biotech joined the vibrant city in celebrating Sant Jordi with the usual tradition—roses for women and books for men.
